MARKO MARINA, PH.D.

Marko Marina

Marko Marina is a historian with a Ph.D. in ancient history from the University of Zagreb (Croatia). He is the author of dozens of articles about early Christianity's history. He works as a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Zagreb where he teaches courses on the history of Christianity and the Roman Empire.

His research focuses on Late antique monasticism, especially St. Pachomius and his communities. He is also involved in the bilateral project Saints and Shaping of Religious Identities between the Faculty of Croatian Studies (University of Zagreb), and the Research Center for Comparative History of Religious Orders (University of Dresden).

In his work with students, Marko emphasizes the importance of the interactive approach that includes students as active participants in the learning process. Marko also believes in the significance of bringing various early Christian topics to the broader audience. In his free time, he enjoys playing basketball and spending quality time with his family and friends.
