
Contribute a Course to Paths in Biblical Studies
Are you a scholar with a passion for teaching—and the ability to produce high-quality content from your home or office?
Paths in Biblical Studies is currently accepting short course proposals from scholars interested in sharing their expertise with a large and engaged audience of lay learners. Courses are featured on both our standalone course platform and inside our membership community, the Biblical Studies Academy (BSA).
We're seeking 1-lecture and 4-lecture courses that are academically rich, yet accessible to general audiences.
What We're Looking For
We welcome proposals on a broad range of topics related to:
- The Bible (Hebrew Bible / Old Testament & New Testament)
- Early Christianity
- Greco-Roman world
- Ancient Judaism
- Apocryphal texts
- Historical Jesus
- Christian origins
- Textual criticism
- Archaeology of the Bible
We’re open to your unique ideas, but we’ve also listed some suggested course topics:

- Miracles of Jesus: Historical Evidence & Theological Significance

- Non-Canonical Gospels
- Ancient Jewish-Christian Relations
- The Bible's Big Questions: Life, Death, & the Meaning of It All
- Jesus for Beginners: An Introduction to the Founder of Christianity (4 Lessons Only)
- Christianity for Beginners (4 Lessons Only)
- Judaism for Beginners (4 Lessons Only)
- Abraham: The Father of the Jews (4 Lessons Only)
- Moses: The Lawgiver (4 Lessons Only)
- Others: Mary Magdalene, James, Elisha, Elijah, John the Baptist, Martin Luther, St. Augustine
Production Requirements
If selected, you'll be responsible for creating and delivering the full course content yourself. That includes:
Video & Audio
- Recordings must be in 1080p HD or higher
- Use StreamYard, Riverside, Ecamm, or similar (not Zoom unless set to 1080p HD)
- Webcam: Logitech C920 or better
- Audio: Use an external mic (e.g. Blue Yeti, Shure MV7, Rode NT-USB)
- Well-lit, tidy home or office setting
Slides
- Create professional-quality slide decks for each lecture
- Include licensed images with proper attribution
- Slides should enhance—not overwhelm—your presentation
What You'll Submit
After approval, contributors must deliver:
- 1 or 4 recorded lectures
- Slide decks for each lecture
- One 15-question multiple choice quiz for a single-lecture course, two for a 4-lecture course
- A 300-word course overview
- A 100-word description for each lecture
- A professionally designed course cover image (you may design it or we can assist)
Payment Options
You choose your level of ownership:
Option A: Full Rights Granted to Us
- You grant us full rights to market and sell the course.
- You receive:
- 50% of standalone course revenue
- Inclusion in the BSA instructor pool fund
- 25% of any additional income generated (e.g., audiobook, licensing)
Option B: You Retain Ownership
- You retain Intellectual Property (IP) and grant us a license to sell and promote your course.
- You receive:
- 30% of standalone course revenue
- $1 per hour viewed in BSA (paid quarterly)
Requirements to Apply
- PhD or equivalent experience in a related field
- Prior experience teaching or presenting to non-specialist audiences
- Comfort with recording yourself on video and creating visual materials
- Commitment to inclusive teaching (no proselytizing; respectful to all learners)
