Dr. Bart D. Ehrman has written or edited thirty-three books, including six New York Times bestsellers:  How Jesus Became God, Misquoting Jesus, God’s Problem, Jesus Interrupted, Forged, and The Triumph of Christianity.  Bart is the James A. Gray Distinguished Professor of Religious Studies at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, where he has taught thousands of students and won numerous awards.

Bart's work has been featured in The New York Times, the Washington Post, Time, and Newsweek; he has appeared on National Geographic, CNN, the BBC, NBC's Dateline, the Discovery Channel, the Daily Show with Jon Stewart, the Sam Harris Podcast, and many other top media outlets.

Paula Fredriksen, a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, is Aurelio Professor of Scripture emerita at Boston University. In 2009, she became a member of the Department of Comparative Religions at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, which awarded her an honorary doctorate in 2018. An historian of ancient Christianity, she also writes on pagan-Jewish-Christian relations in the Roman Empire. Among her recent publications are Paul. The Pagans’ Apostle (Yale 2017) and When Christians Were Jews (Yale 2018). Her most recent study, Ancient Christianities: The First Five Hundred Years, is about to appear from Princeton University Press (2024).

John M.G. Barclay is Lightfoot Professor of Divinity at Durham University (UK). After undergraduate studies in Classics and Theology, and research in New Testament studies at Cambridge University, he taught at Glasgow University for 20 years, before moving to Durham in 2003, where he teaches the New Testament and early Christianity. He has published widely on ancient Judaism and the social history of early Christianity, and most recently on Paul's theology of grace, as the root of his mission to non-Jews (Paul and the Gift, 2015; more accessible version, Paul and the Power of Grace, 2020).

Joel Marcus is Emeritus Professor of New Testament and Christian Origins at Duke Divinity School. He is the author of the two-volume commentary on the Gospel of Mark in the Anchor Yale Bible Commentary series, of John the Baptist in History and Theology ( University of South Carolina Press), and of numerous articles on the parting of the ways between Judaism and Christianity. He lives in Durham, North Carolina.

Dr. Robyn Faith Walsh is an Associate Professor at the University of Miami (UM). She earned her Ph.D. at Brown University in Religions of the Ancient Mediterranean, with a focus on early Christianity, ancient Judaism, and ancient Mediterranean archaeology. Before Brown, she attended Harvard Divinity School where she studied the New Testament and Roman archaeology. Her first monograph, The Origins of Early Christian Literature: Contextualizing the New Testament within Greco-Roman Literary Culture, was published with Cambridge University Press in 2021. She is also the author of several book chapters and articles on Roman book culture, diaspora archaeology, and various theoretical approaches to religion. Dr. Benjamin L. White is Associate Professor of Religion and Chair of Philosophy and Religion at Clemson University. He is a scholar of ancient and modern interpretations of the New Testament, the reconstruction of Christian origins, and the development of early Christianities. He is particularly interested in the figure of Paul in Christian memory. His first book, Remembering Paul: Ancient and Modern Contests over the Image of the Apostle, was published by Oxford University Press in 2014. His second book, Counting Paul: Scientificity, Fuzzy Math, and Ideology in Pauline Studies will be out in 2025, also with Oxford University Press. It explores the role that stylometry has played in solving the Pauline authorship problem. His research articles have appeared in the Journal for the Study of the New Testament, the Journal of Early Christian Studies, Catholic Biblical Quarterly, and Vigiliae christianae, among other places. He co-chairs the Historical Paul section of the Society of Biblical Literature and serves on the editorial board of The Journal of Theological Studies.

Ronald Charles joined the Department for the Study of Religion at the University of Toronto (St. George campus) as an Associate Professor in January of 2022. He did his Ph.D. at the DSR in 2014. Charles is the author of Paul and the Politics of Diaspora (Fortress Press, 2014), Traductions Bibliques Créoles et Préjugés Linguistiques (L’Harmattan, 2015), and The Silencing of Slaves in early Jewish and Christian Writings (Routledge, 2020). He is now working on a monograph, provisionally titled: In Search of Home: The Construction of Early Christian Discourse. Charles’ research and teaching interests are the interdisciplinary study of ancient Christian literature, Mediterranean identity and Race in Antiquity, Slaves in the Greek and Roman world, Classical Reception, Method and Theory in the academic study of Religion.

Jennifer Knust is a scholar of religion who specializes in early Christian history and the religions of the ancient Mediterranean. Author of To Cast the First Stone: The Transmission of a Gospel Story (with Tommy Wasserman, Princeton 2018), Unprotected Texts: The Bible’s Surprising Contradictions about Sex and Desire (HarperONE 2011), and Abandoned to Lust: Sexual Slander and Ancient Christianity (Columbia 2005), she studies early Christian texts, their contexts, and their receptions. Her numerous articles, book chapters, and edited books address the materiality of texts, ancient sexualities, and the ethics of interpretation.

Jason A. Staples (Ph.D., UNC-Chapel Hill) is an Assistant Teaching Professor in the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies at NC State University. He is the author of Paul and the Resurrection of Israel: Jews, Former Gentiles, Israelites (2024) and The Idea of Israel in Second Temple Judaism: A New Theory of People, Exile, and Israelite Identity (2021), both with Cambridge University Press. Given the wages of an adjunct professor, Jason has also worked in sports media for over fifteen years, coached high school football for a few years, and as a freelance editor, voiceover artist, and audiobook narrator. James Tabor is a retired Professor in the Department of Religious Studies at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte where he taught Christian origins and ancient Judaism for thirty-three years, serving as Chair of the Department for a decade. His Ph.D. is from the University of Chicago. He now devotes himself full-time to research, archaeological fieldwork, and publishing. Tabor previously taught at the University of Notre Dame and the College of William and Mary. Tabor combines his work on ancient texts with extensive field work in archaeology in Israel and Jordan. Since 2008 he has been co-director of the acclaimed Mt Zion excavation in Jerusalem and been involved in a half dozen other archaeological projects in the Holy Land over the past thirty years. In the early 1990s, he was involved in the release of the unpublished Dead Sea Scrolls and was one of the first scholars to examine and publish several very important ones. In 1995 he testified before the US Congress on the Waco tragedy, drawing upon his expertise in understanding ancient Biblical apocalyptic ideas. He has published ten books and over 100 articles, including: A Noble Death (1992), Why Waco (1995); The Jesus Dynasty (2006), and Paul and Jesus (2012). His latest book is forthcoming: The Lost Mary: From the Jewish Mother of Jesus to the Virgin Mother of God (Knopf 2024).
