Mark Goodacre is Professor of Religious Studies at Duke University, North Carolina, USA. He earned his MA, M.Phil and DPhil at the University of Oxford. His research interests include the Gospels, the Apocryphal New Testament, and the Historical Jesus. Goodacre is the author of five books including The Case Against Q: Studies in Markan Priority and the Synoptic Problem (Harrisburg, PA: Trinity Press International, 2002) and The Fourth Synoptic Gospel (Grand Rapids: Eerdmans, 2025). He is well known for creating web resources on New Testament and Christian origins, including his podcast, the NT Pod.

Paula Fredriksen, a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, is Aurelio Professor of Scripture emerita at Boston University. In 2009, she became a member of the Department of Comparative Religions at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, which awarded her an honorary doctorate in 2018. An historian of ancient Christianity, she also writes on pagan-Jewish-Christian relations in the Roman Empire. Among her recent publications are Paul. The Pagans’ Apostle (Yale 2017) and When Christians Were Jews (Yale 2018). Her most recent study, Ancient Christianities: The First Five Hundred Years, has just appeared from Princeton University Press (2024).

Dr. Bart D. Ehrman has written or edited thirty-three books, including six New York Times bestsellers:  How Jesus Became God, Misquoting Jesus, God’s Problem, Jesus Interrupted, Forged, and The Triumph of Christianity.  Bart is the James A. Gray Distinguished Professor of Religious Studies at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, where he has taught thousands of students and won numerous awards.

Bart's work has been featured in The New York Times, the Washington Post, Time, and Newsweek; he has appeared on National Geographic, CNN, the BBC, NBC's Dateline, the Discovery Channel, the Daily Show with Jon Stewart, the Sam Harris Podcast, and many other top media outlets.

Elaine Pagels (Ph.D., Harvard University) is the Harrington Spear Paine Professor of Religion at Princeton University, renowned for her groundbreaking work on early Christianity, Gnosticism, and the formation of Christian orthodoxy. She is the author of multiple influential books, including The Gnostic Gospels (1979), which won the National Book Award and National Book Critics Circle Award, and The Origin of Satan (1995), which explores how Christianity constructed the concept of evil. Her work has reshaped scholarly and public understanding of non-canonical texts and the diversity of early Christian beliefs. Outside academia, Pagels has been a frequent contributor to public conversations on religion, appearing in major documentaries and interviews. She is also the author of the memoir Why Religion? A Personal Story (2018), which weaves together her scholarship and personal experiences of loss, grief, and resilience.

James Tabor is a retired Professor in the Department of Religious Studies at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte where he taught Christian origins and ancient Judaism for thirty-three years, serving as Chair of the Department for a decade. His Ph.D. is from the University of Chicago. He now devotes himself full-time to research, archaeological fieldwork, and publishing. Tabor previously taught at the University of Notre Dame and the College of William and Mary. Tabor combines his work on ancient texts with extensive field work in archaeology in Israel and Jordan. Since 2008 he has been co-director of the acclaimed Mt Zion excavation in Jerusalem and been involved in a half dozen other archaeological projects in the Holy Land over the past thirty years. In the early 1990s, he was involved in the release of the unpublished Dead Sea Scrolls and was one of the first scholars to examine and publish several very important ones. In 1995 he testified before the US Congress on the Waco tragedy, drawing upon his expertise in understanding ancient Biblical apocalyptic ideas. He has published ten books and over 100 articles, including: A Noble Death (1992), Why Waco (1995); The Jesus Dynasty (2006), and Paul and Jesus (2012). His latest book is forthcoming: The Lost Mary: From the Jewish Mother of Jesus to the Virgin Mother of God (Knopf 2024). Helen K. Bond is Professor of Christian Origins at the University of Edinburgh. Her research focuses on the social and political history of Judaea under Roman rule, the historical Jesus, and the canonical gospels. She is the author of Pontius Pilate in History and Interpretation (CUP, 1998), Caiaphas: High Priest and Friend of Rome? (Westminster John Knox, 2004), The Historical Jesus: A Guide for the Perplexed (Bloomsbury, 2012), Jesus: A Very Brief History (SPCK, 2017), The First Biography of Jesus: Genre and Meaning in Mark’s Gospel (Eerdmans, 2020), Women Remembered: Jesus’ Female Disciples (Hodder, 2022), and a number of shorter studies and articles. She has contributed to over 50 TV and radio documentaries, including acting as historical consultant to The Nativity (BBC, 2010) and co-presenter (with Joan Taylor) of Jesus’ Female Disciples (C4, 2018). With journalist Dave Roos, she hosts the podcast Biblical Time Machine.

Dale C. Allison, Jr. is the Richard J. Dearborn Professor of New Testament at Princeton Theological Seminary. He earned his MA and PhD from Duke University. His academic research and publications include the historical Jesus, the Gospel of Matthew, Second Temple Judaism, and the history of the interpretation and application of biblical texts. His book, Constructing Jesus, was selected as “Best Book Relating to the New Testament” for 2009–2010 by the Biblical Archaeology Society. His most recent books are The Resurrection of Jesus: Apologetics, Polemic, History; Encountering Mystery: Religious Experience in a Secular Age; and Interpreting Jesus. He served for several years as the main New Testament editor for de Gruyter’s international Encyclopedia of the Bible and Its Reception and has been on the editorial boards of multiple academic journals. On a more popular level, he has written books on George Harrison, religious experience, and death and what might lie beyond.

Amy Jill Levine ("AJ") is Rabbi Stanley M. Kessler Distinguished Professor of New Testament and Jewish Studies at Hartford International University for Religion and Peace and University Professor of New Testament and Jewish Studies Emerita at Vanderbilt. Her publications include The Misunderstood Jew: The Church and the Scandal of the Jewish Jesus, Short Stories by Jesus: The Enigmatic Parables of a Controversial Rabbi, and, with Marc Brettler, The Bible With and Without Jesus. With Brettler, she also co-edited The Jewish Annotated New Testament. She is the first Jew to teach the New Testament at Rome's Pontifical Biblical Institute and is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. AJ identifies as an unorthodox member of an Orthodox synagogue and a Yankee Jewish feminist who challenges exclusionary biblical interpretations.

Joel Marcus is Emeritus Professor of New Testament and Christian Origins at Duke Divinity School. He is the author of the two-volume commentary on the Gospel of Mark in the Anchor Yale Bible Commentary series, of John the Baptist in History and Theology ( University of South Carolina Press), and of numerous articles on the parting of the ways between Judaism and Christianity. He lives in Durham, North Carolina.

Dr. Robyn Faith Walsh is an Associate Professor at the University of Miami (UM). She earned her Ph.D. at Brown University in Religions of the Ancient Mediterranean, with a focus on early Christianity, ancient Judaism, and ancient Mediterranean archaeology. Before Brown, she attended Harvard Divinity School where she studied the New Testament and Roman archaeology. Her first monograph, The Origins of Early Christian Literature: Contextualizing the New Testament within Greco-Roman Literary Culture, was published with Cambridge University Press in 2021. She is also the author of several book chapters and articles on Roman book culture, diaspora archaeology, and various theoretical approaches to religion. Ian N Mills (Ph.D. Duke University) is Visiting Assistant Professor of Classics and Religious Studies at Hamilton College (Clinton, NY). His research focuses on the production, reception, and transmission of gospel literature as well as evolving notions of "scripture" and "canon." His first book, The Hypothesis of the Gospels (Fortress Press), explores how Christians understood differences between the gospels before the development of the canon. Mills is the co-host of the New Testament Review, a podcast dedicated to reviewing influential works of New Testament scholarship.

Jodi Magness (JodiMagness.org) is the Kenan Distinguished Professor for Teaching Excellence in Early Judaism in the Department of Religious Studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and past President of the Archaeological Institute of America. Magness received her B.A. in Archaeology and History from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and her Ph.D. in Classical Archaeology from the University of Pennsylvania. Magness’ research interests focus on Palestine in the Roman, Byzantine, and early Islamic periods. Three of her books have won awards: Masada: From Jewish Revolt to Modern Myth (Princeton: Princeton University, 2019); The Archaeology of Qumran and the Dead Sea Scrolls (Grand Rapids, MI: Eerdmans, 2002; revised edition 2021); and The Archaeology of the Early Islamic Settlement in Palestine (Winona Lake, IN: Eisenbrauns, 2003). Her latest book, Jerusalem Through the Ages: From Its Beginnings to the Crusades (Oxford University Press) is scheduled to appear in print in spring 2024. Since 2011, Magness has directed excavations at Huqoq in Israel’s Galilee (huqoq.org).

Dr T.C. Schmidt earned his PhD from Yale University and is a leading scholar in the fields of the historical Jesus, the formation of the New Testament, and the history of Christianity in Eastern contexts. Notably, Schmidt has produced peer-reviewed translations from Latin, Greek, Syriac, and Arabic texts, contributing significantly to the accessibility of early Christian sources. His books have been published with academic presses such as Cambridge, Oxford, Fordham, Catholic University, and Gorgias. Dr. Schmidt currently serves as Associate professor at Fairfield University and is a Visiting Fellow at Princeton University.

Jason A. Staples (Ph.D., UNC-Chapel Hill) is an Assistant Teaching Professor in the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies at NC State University. He is the author of Paul and the Resurrection of Israel: Jews, Former Gentiles, Israelites (2024) and The Idea of Israel in Second Temple Judaism: A New Theory of People, Exile, and Israelite Identity (2021), both with Cambridge University Press. Given the wages of an adjunct professor, Jason has also worked in sports media for over fifteen years, coached high school football for a few years, and as a freelance editor, voiceover artist, and audiobook narrator. Dr. Laura Robinson holds a PhD in New Testament Studies from Duke University (2023). She also holds an M.A. in Biblical Exegesis and Systematic Theology.
