🙋‍♂️ Frequently Asked Questions

What if I can’t attend live in person?

We plan to record the full lecture and post it later on Bart Ehrman’s YouTube channel, so you won’t miss out.

We’re also hoping to stream the event live, but we can’t make promises yet — it depends on the room setup and university network.

Where will the event be held?

The lecture will take place on the UNC Chapel Hill campus, but the exact building and room are still being finalized (we’re waiting on confirmation for a 200- or 400-seat auditorium).
Once it’s confirmed, we’ll email all registered attendees with full details, parking info, and directions.

Will Bart be giving up teaching for good?

Not at all!  While Bart is retiring from his university position at UNC Chapel Hill, he’s not retiring from teaching, writing, or public scholarship.

In fact, retirement means he’ll have more time to focus on the parts of teaching he loves most... sharing his knowledge with a worldwide audience through his books, courses, the blog, and more.

Who will be there?

In addition to Bart Ehrman himself, members of our Paths in Biblical Studies (PBS) team will be there including Chris Huntley, Megan Lewis, Precious Henderson, Megan Kraege (BSA Community Manager), Jen Olmos (CEO of EhrmanBlog.org) and others you’ve seen (including scholars) in our courses and events.  It’ll be a great chance to connect, say hello, and celebrate together!

How much does it cost to attend?

The lecture is completely free, and everyone is welcome to attend.  Just make sure to register so we can save you a seat.

The after-party following the lecture is private, open only to members of the PBS team and the 10 winners of our November drawing.

If you’d like a chance to join Bart and our team for dessert and drinks, you can learn more at

Are there any other events planned that weekend?

Yes! While nothing official is planned besides the UNC lecture, the PBS/BSA team is organizing an informal team and community dinner on Saturday night (Dec. 6) for anyone who’d like to join us.  It’ll be casual and “buy your own meal” style, a fun way to hang out before the big event.  Bart will not be in attendance.

Additionally, Bart is hosting a get together Monday night (Dec. 8) for his Blog members.  Members can read more about the blog dinner by clicking here.
