Coming to understand who Jesus actually was and what he actually did - and did not do- is one of the most important intellectual endeavors anyone in our society can embark upon."

Bart D. Ehrman, NINT Founder

  • Non-Believers: Gain evidence-based insights into Jesus and the origins of Christianity
  • Seekers & Skeptics: Get balanced perspectives to explore Jesus' life and teachings with intellectual honesty

Dr. Elaine Pagels

Keynote Address: Beyond the Historical Jesus

From Reimarus to Albert Schweitzer, A.J. Levine, Paula Fredriksen and Bart Ehrman (and yes, I include
myself here) historians investigate what we know about the historical Jesus, even though what we don’t
know is likely 90%-- or more.
Why, then, does his story hold so much appeal for so many people?
Reflecting on the NT gospels, “gnostic gospels,” and other first and second century sources, we look for
answers.
Which elements of the Jesus story appeal to people today—to artists, filmmakers, poets, to new
converts? What is it that gives these stories their staying power for thousands of years?

Since I engage so much with NT presentations by Bart and others, I thought the talks wouldn't provide "new insights" but I was wrong. The presentations were remarkably informative and thought-provoking.

This conference delivered on its promises! Ten experts delivered amazing content to non-scholars in a way that was engaging and easily understood.

The conference was extremely well organized and well executed. I enjoyed it immensely. I’m looking forward to attending more of them. Congratulations on an extraordinarily well done job.

I was greatly impressed by the remarkably high quality of the speakers and their presentations in "New Insights into the New Testament." In addition, the superb two-day conference was well organized, easy to access, and Very affordable.
